i am appalled…

at the choices made by the editorial staff at New Idea and, to a lesser extent, Matt Drudge.

“outing” Prince Harry’s front-line posting in Afghanistan was a very irresponsible and (i believe) morally reprehensible action.

HRH Prince Henry of Wales, in the person of Troop Commander Wales, has a personal responsibility to the men under his command and his fellow officers. he has stated: “There’s no way I’m going to put myself through Sandhurst and then sit on my arse back home while my boys are out fighting for their country.” the British Army was right to allow him to serve in Afghanistan, just as they were correct in keeping his deployment “secret” to protect his fellow soldiers.

to use the knowledge of his deployment for monetary gain, putting both the Prince and his men at even greater risk than the usual for combat, is one of the most morally disgusting things i’ve heard of recently.

not only that, they have taken from this young man the ability to serve both his country and his fellow soldiers as he was trained.

quote of the day:

“War must be, while we defend our lives against a destroyer who would devour all; but I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend.” – Faramir, son of Denethor
