car repair update…

remember the see-through floorboard?

Photobucket

it is see-through no more!

welded new metal into the floorboard itself, also repaired the inner sill and seat support tunnel.

sealed all the seams and pinholes, then coated with spray-on bedliner.

that’s right, spray-on bedliner. better by far than the original tarred felt that was used in these cars, although i’ll still use Dynamat (or something similar) before laying down new carpets.

yay! progress!

just three more floorboards, three body outriggers and one frame rail to go (plus assorted sill and fender repairs)…

oh yeah, and then i need to rebuild the engine.

quote of the day:

“I think that cars today are almost the exact equivalent of the great Gothic cathedrals: I mean the supreme creation of an era, conceived with passion by unknown artists, and consumed in image if not in usage by a whole population which appropriates them as a purely magical object.” – Roland Barthes
