guess what showed up?

it’s my first new Mac in fifteen years – the last was a 20 mhz 68030 with 5 megs of ram. this is a 2.33 ghz Core 2 Duo with 2 gb of ram. my, how times have changed.

i’m downloading BootCamp right now.

quote of the clock cycle:

“Where a calculator on the ENIAC is equipped with 18,000 vacuum tubes and weighs 30 tons, computers in the future may have only 1,000 vaccuum tubes and perhaps weigh 1.5 tons.” – Popular Mechanics, March 1949

i’ve bought lots of used Macs between the last one and this one. still have them, too. but it’s nice to have a new computer again (that i didn’t assemble from generic parts). Apple hardware just feels and looks right, you know?
