car problems (of mine own making)…

so my car’s been off the road for over a week now. it was running fine, but i decided, for various reasons that seemed sane at the time, that i wanted to change the type of fuel injection that was on the car.

the idea behind this was twofold: one, more power. every car needs more power. as Mae West said, “Too much of a good thing is wonderful.” and two, better fuel economy. though the car already got better than 30 mpg, this swap (which is fairly common) usually ends up adding a couple more mpg over pre-swap economy.

everybody knows that the more power idea was the primary reason, right? right.

so anyway, there are instructions for this all over the intarweb. i downloaded a couple of them and set to work with my handy manual and soldering iron. finished up, car wouldn’t start. troubleshoot (following factory instructions), change parts, still no start.

lather, rinse, repeat.

so now, a week or so later, my car is still up on stands in the garage. and it still won’t start. and it’s still got the same symptoms. argh.

so, anyway:

old business – picked up the merlot version of Target’s wine in a box. will let you know if it’s better or worse than the Cab/Shiraz blend.

new business – still no word on Stewart and Beth’s new baby. kid may be born on the tenth after all.

g’night all.

quote of the day:

“When buying a used car, punch the buttons on the radio. If all the stations are rock and roll, there’s a good chance the transmission is shot.” – Larry Lujack
